Initial Ideas

Idea #1 – Underworld

Outline – For my first idea I am considering the creation of 2 character designs along with 2 close up detailed assets to go alongside with them and to fit these within the cyberpunk theme I will be presenting them in a style that fits them into an underworld within the genre. For my first character design I will be creating a futuristic outlaw like character with inspiration taken from the main protagonist of Cyberpunk 2077 whilst utilising a narrative from the Deus Ex universe in a theme where I wish to depict the conflict between an outlaw who dwells in the slums of the underworld and a cybernetic enforcer that is pursuing them who will serve as my second character and will be a cyborg who has taken over law enforcement and received cybernetic augmentations on each of their limbs, their face will be relatively untouched with some minor cybernetics visible whilst the limbs will all be mechanical with no trace of organic material left. For my closeup assets the first design that I have decided on for my first idea outline is a drone which will be aligned with the cyborg and will be presented using references from the design of the ship seen in arma 3 contact which utilises a ship design that I believe could be incorporated effectively into a drone and to make it my own design I will reduce the scale so it is roughly the size of a human head with a spherical turquoise light emitting from around the rim with two rectangular power packs protruding from both sides alongside the light, the colour scheme for this drone will consist of a relatively dark colour scheme which presents the drone as an silent observer. My next close up asset will feature the vehicle of the outlaw which I have decided to be Cyberpunk hover board which will feature a retro art style utilising features that make it vibrant with discs attached to either end that allow the board to hover and will be painted in a bright blue texture that makes it glow.

Characters – Cyberpunk outlaw designed with a vibrant colour scheme that makes them fit within the genre. Cyborg agent that will feature augmented limbs and cybernetic enhancements across their body that uses a dull colour scheme to fit the setting of a dystopia.

Assets – Police drone and a futuristic hoverboard

Colour Scheme

For my colour I will be using a wide palette of colours which for my first character and asset design will be vibrant whilst utilising a neon texture that will illuminate my designs whilst for my cyborg agent I will use a slightly darker and dull colour scheme that will present them in a negative light and make them easily identifiable as an adversary for my first character design. For my drone I will be using the same colour scheme as my cyborg agent.

Idea #2 – Isolation

Specialism – 2D Art/Concept Art

Outline – For my second idea I will be including an environmental piece that will feature a unique setting that is genuinely not associated with the cyberpunk genre but will fit in through the style I am going to use to create it. The environment piece will be set deep within a swamp with a hut built from the surrounding resources that has also been enhanced through cybernetic upgrades making it a mixture of nature and modernization all in one, surrounding the area will be a swamp that features a blissful and attractive style that attempts to conceal the hut as to keep it isolated. Alongside an environmental piece I will also be producing a character design who I wish to keep within the narrative of division between cybernetics and humans, this character will be one who has undergone dramatic augmentation that gives them an inhuman appearance as they will have ogre like head proportions with their lower body below the head made entirely out of cybernetics with skin only being viewed elsewhere on the arms. The eyes will feature enhancements that make them protrude out of the skull in a way that allows greater depth perception. The title of this idea and the narrative I am setting fits together in the way that this character who has received enhancements has isolated himself from normal society as to not end up in the crosswinds of the ongoing conflict between the two demographics and so has moved into the swamp to take up residence.

Colour Scheme

My colour scheme will consist of bright and vibrant colours that will consist of multiple shades of green that will be used to bring the swamp and surrounding environment to live whilst neon and metallic textures will be used to create the isolated hut that will be embedded with cybernetics and illuminate the surrounding area. The colour scheme for my character design will feature a metallic black and gray whilst the skin will be of a tan colour to keep the human whilst the others will be utilised to fit them into the theme as a cyborg.

Idea #3 – Junkyard

Specialism – 2D Concept Art

Outline For my last idea for this project I have thought of an outline surrounding a junkyard resting in a desert, this junkyard will feature exotic cyberpunk vehicles that are being scavenged through by multiple cyberpunk characters some of whom bear cybernetics. The sky for this scene will be black as to present the pollution caused by this dystopia and the overall lighting of this scene will be focused heavily upon the junkyard that will have multiple street lights positioned around it casting light onto the vehicles whilst the area surrounding the junkyard will be of a darkened tone casting a shadow over the environment. Neon lights will be present on my scene as to fit it within the genre with the majority of these being present on the vehicles resting in the junkyard whilst some of the characters in the art piece will have neon bits of clothing and hair styles.

Colour Scheme For this idea I would be using a rust like texture consisting of a pallette of yellow and orange tones whilst for the scavengers I would use a beige like texture using some light blue and purple tones to create a neon like aesthetic. For the environment I would utilise a gray and dark colour scheme to make my environment look polluted and run down whilst the junkyard vehicles will be of multiple textures with some bright tones used to create the exotic look that some will be presented in whilst others will be of a more worn down weathered texture using dark yellows and possibly greys.
