  • How has your research influenced the planning and creation of your promotional materials including your UCAS Personal Statement?

The research that I have conducted throughout this assignment has influenced my planning and creation of promotional materials by showing me which portfolio providers are the most popular and gather largest audience, such as art station which is my chosen provider where I have since begun uploading all my course and personal work whilst looking at online information talking about personal statement structure has allowed me to craft my own personal statement that has since been sent off to my chosen universities with my UCAS application. Viewing online art station portfolios gave me an insight into how mine should be laid out and so thanks to the research I have conducted my portfolio is laid out suitably and is easy for my audience to navigate through and locate what they are searching for.

  • Reflect on your learning and skills – What you have done and why you have done it?

Throughout this unit I have had to create my own online portfolio to showcase my personal work along with setting up a UCAS application and typing up a personal statement after conducting a wide range of research. My portfolio has been created and setup so that I can have an online platform where I can showcase my work to a wide range of people including other artists and professionals who are working in the games industry and this allows me to receive feedback from these professionals as well as present the development of my own personal and course work, this portfolio allows to me to put myself out there and attract attention from those who also use the platform to view and critic my work. For UCAS I have produced an application where I have created a personal statement and listed all of my GCSES as well as chosen 4 universities that I would like to go to for my further education and this has been done so that I can successfully apply for a 2020 spot at any of my chosen unis in september and my personal statement has been done so that those who read my application can learn about why I have chosen the course as well as learn about myself personally such as how I work and what choices directed me to choose to go to university. All of these have been done to allow me to progress further into my studies and get a job in industry in the future.

  • Sum up your ongoing evaluations/opinions/reflections that you documented during the project.

Throughout the duration of this project I have conducted extensive research focusing on a variety of portfolio providers such as Behance and Art Station whilst also viewing multiple portfolios from professional artists to see how they have laid out there portfolio and what type of work has been the most successful for them to upload. Though this research was of great help to me I could have viewed tutorials and that lead you  through a suitable set up for your portfolio as well as find sites and advice that tells you what kind of artwork is best to be uploaded, though despite this I am happy with the outcome of my portfolio production. When producing portfolio work I mainly focused on producing traditional 2D pieces as at home I have been having consistent issues with my drawing tablet and so I do not use it as often due to complications with it functioning properly and so although I have a large amount of sketches uploaded to my portfolio I could do with uploading and focusing more on Digital art pieces as this is a required field for a concept artist.

The peer feedback I have received for this project has proven to be exceptionally helpful for me as having my university research and portfolio rated positively by my peer has boosted my confidence on this unit and has led to me producing a vast array of portfolio work as well as further enhancing my portfolio with different sections for different art pieces that present multiple different art styles. Alongside this feedback, my personal viewing of artist portfolios has given me insight as to what type of art work fits best on a portfolio as well as what gathers the most attention.

Throughout this unit I have created my UCAS application and applied to multiple universities that have courses relevant tome whilst also setting up an online portfolio and producing art pieces to showcase to an audience that I will be gathering over time. This unit has boosted my confidence in my research and art abilities and with having a portfolio setup is providing with encouragement to spend more time outside of college hours practicing in both digital and traditional 2D art.
